Your worth is determined by how successful you are
A cliche isn't it? But it's a cliche for a reason. Though it's been addressed many times, this idea continues to permeate the minds of guys. Whether subconscious or not.
In the eyes of the world, worth is subjective and in this case, it is placed heavily on those who are seen to be more successful.
However, if a guy believes that only when he has a six-figure salary or when he is recognized across the country that he will finally have true worth, he is believing a lie from the pit of hell.
True worth is given by God, not that we are worthy, but that God has given us intrinsic worth, that does not correlate with our successfulness in the world eyes.
2. Marriage is meaningless and unnecessary
The old ball and chain, getting tied down, meaningless ceremony, unnecessary, etc.
These are just some of the terms that the world uses to refer to marriage in our culture. The idea that marriage is unnecessary has been widely popularized within the millennial generation.
This flows from a culture that has rejected God's design of the proper context for the full expression of our sexuality.
If two people are in a committed relationship and decide to live together, what would be the purpose of marriage... Tax benefits?
You see, God has designed marriage to be between a man and a woman, though each imperfect, can come together as one. Through this union, they each reflect the image of God through the complementary roles that He has called them to be as husband and wife.
Marriage signifies a commitment to one another before God and glorifies God through this union.
3. You can't make a difference in the world
You're just one person, what difference can you really make?
When a guy believes this, it completely demotivates him in regard to serving others. Instead, he recoils into the mindset of seeking to please himself first. Laziness can also result from this faulty belief.
You're just one person, but that doesn't mean that God cannot use you to make a huge difference in the world through you.
The world encourages us to believe this lie because it will make life easier. However, the Bible never said that embracing the truth would be easy, but it does say this:
"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:32
What are other lies the world is telling guys?
